JR Kyushu Service Status for July 29 Following Kumamoto Earthquake
JR Kyushu has announced that it will suspend services on the Kagoshima Main Line between Uto and Yatsushiro stations until further notice.
At this time, it expects that resuming service during August will be difficult. Replacement transportation by bus or other means has yet to be decided, as the extent of damage to roads and other infrastructure has not yet been assessed and securing buses is difficult.
JR Kyushu has also indicated that resuming service on the Kyushu Shinkansen between Kumamoto and Shin-Minamata stations during August will be difficult.
