Sections of Tohoku, Joetsu, and Hokuriku Shinkansen Suspended for the Entire Day
East Japan Railway Company (JR East) announced that due to a power supply equipment failure between Ueno and Omiya stations, service on parts of the Tohoku, Joetsu, and Hokuriku Shinkansen lines will be suspended for the entire day today, January 23rd.
The affected areas are the Tohoku Shinkansen line between Tokyo and Sendai stations, and the Joetsu and Hokuriku Shinkansen lines between Tokyo and Takasaki stations. Even in sections where trains are being turned around, the number of operating trains has been reduced, and the public is advised to take note.
