JR Kyushu to Resume Kyushu Shinkansen Service Between Shin-Minamata and Kagoshima-Chuo from August 7
JR East will suspend service on the Kitakami Line between Hotto Yuda and Yokote stations until further notice.
The suspension is due to damage caused by heavy rain on August 2, including washouts of railway embankments and inflows of earth and sand between Hotto Yuda and Ainono stations. There is currently no outlook for the resumption of service, which is expected to take a considerable period of time. No substitute transportation will be provided.
Services between Kitakami and Hotto Yuda stations will continue to operate with the normal number of trains and regular timetable.
