Qantas has unveiled a new Business Suite to be introduced on its Airbus A321XLR aircraft.
Arranged in a 1-1 configuration, every seat will feature a fully flat bed and a sliding privacy door. The suite will include a 19-inch entertainment screen, wireless charging and USB-C power, as well as storage space for laptops and personal items. Wi-Fi will be available free of charge.
Qantas has ordered 16 Airbus A321XLR aircraft, with delivery of the first aircraft scheduled for 2028. The aircraft has a maximum range of 8,700 kilometers, more than 3,000 kilometers greater than that of a Boeing 737. It will be deployed on transcontinental routes to and from Perth, as well as short- and medium-haul international services.
Vanessa Hudson, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Qantas Group, said, “Investing in new aircraft is one of the most important ways we can improve the flying experience. Qantas introduced Business Class to the world in 1979 and has continued to redefine what it means ever since.”
According to Qantas, demand for premium travel is growing faster than demand for Economy Class, with premium cabin revenue across its international network growing at twice the rate of Economy Class revenue. The newly introduced aircraft will have a higher proportion of premium seats than the aircraft they will replace.
