Air Canada will launch service to Ho Chi Minh City as early as 2027.
Canada and Vietnam will expand their air transport agreement, enabling the operation of up to 14 round-trip passenger flights per week and up to seven round-trip cargo flights per week. Fifth-freedom rights for cargo services will also be permitted. The announcement was made following a summit meeting during Vietnamese Communist Party General Secretary and State President To Lam’s visit to Canada.
Vietnam is one of Canada’s most active trading partners in Southeast Asia. Canadian exports to Vietnam exceeded US$1.3 billion in 2025, an increase of approximately 30% year on year.
