American Express will issue limited-edition cards featuring a “Mirror Design” for its Platinum Card and American Express Business Platinum Card.
The Mirror Design was introduced in the United States in September 2025, and Japan will be the first market outside the United States to offer it. Existing cardmembers of both cards can also switch to the Mirror Design during the offer period, although an issuance fee of 7,700 yen (including tax) will apply.
The Platinum Card was revamped in July this year. Its ongoing “Premium Free Stay Gift” benefit, which offers a complimentary one-night stay for two people at premium hotels in Japan, now includes an additional night depending on card usage. It also newly offers an “Airline Credit” worth 100,000 yen, which can be used to purchase international airline tickets, upon enrollment and renewal based on card usage. In addition, the card provides “Global Dining Cashback,” offering a 50% rebate on spending at more than 2,000 eligible restaurants in 16 countries, up to an annual maximum of 40,000 yen.
Both cards provide access to Fine Hotels + Resorts, which offers benefits including complimentary breakfast for two, room upgrades, and late checkout until 4 p.m. at more than 1,900 selected luxury hotels worldwide. Cardmembers can also access Centurion Lounges at 33 airports worldwide, including Tokyo Haneda Airport.
In addition to supporting expense payments and expense management through supplementary cards for employees, the Business Platinum Card offers the “Premium Free Stay Gift,” a complimentary stay voucher for two at eligible hotels in Japan upon renewal, and the “Platinum Secretary Service,” which assists with arrangements for business trips and business dining.
Applications will be accepted from 1 p.m. on September 30 through February 1, 2027.
