Thai Airways Continues Passenger Support Amid Bangkok Flooding
Panasonic Avionics announced that its entire range of 4K OLED screens for its Astrova in-flight entertainment (IFE) solution has received Eyesafe Display Requirements 3.0 certification.
Eyesafe Display Requirements 3.0 certification is a standard that evaluates the amount of blue light emitted by digital displays. Astrova manages blue light through pixel-level spectral tuning, providing a comfortable viewing experience while maintaining the color, contrast, and image quality of 4K OLED displays.
On aircraft, passengers view screens at close range for extended periods, raising concerns about eye strain. According to Eyesafe, blue light remains the subject of ongoing research regarding its effects on eye comfort, visual experience, and the body’s internal clock. Its impact may vary depending on factors such as screen proximity, duration of use, and cumulative viewing time.
This is the first IFE system to receive third-party certification for blue light management and display performance standards.
