Etihad Airways Launches Etihad Wellbeing Program
Tigerair Taiwan has launched operation of “tigerhop,” a connecting flight booking platform between airlines, together with travel technology company Dohop.
The platform uses Dohop’s “RetailConnect.” It enables Tigerair Taiwan to integrate its own routes with flights operated by partner airlines while avoiding the technical constraints previously required for conventional interline and joint-operation (codeshare) arrangements.
The first partner is Scoot, allowing customers to book tickets for connecting flights through a single booking process. Travelers departing from Singapore can connect via Taipei Taoyuan to destinations such as Akita, Hanamaki, and Tottori, while travelers can also fly from regional airports in Japan to Singapore.
When the first sector is operated by Tigerair Taiwan and passengers have checked baggage, a priority baggage handling service is provided free of charge. However, baggage cannot be checked through to the final destination. Connection times are set between 3 and 48 hours, allowing stopovers in Taiwan. Customers can also purchase “ConnectSure,” a compensation and support service provided by Dohop for delays and other disruptions.
Chairperson Shih-Hui Huang (Joyce Huang) commented, “Our partnership with Dohop has enabled us to extend our international network in a more flexible way. Going forward, we will work with even more airlines and deepen our presence in the Asia-Pacific market.” Hugh Aitken, Chief Operating Officer of Dohop, said, “Tigerair Taiwan has demonstrated an excellent model for efficiently expanding its network by using smart technology, moving away from the complex procedures and high costs associated with conventional bilateral interline agreements.”
