Malaysia Aviation Group to Receive Its First Airbus A330-900 Aircraft in the Third Quarter
Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) is set to introduce 12 aircraft in 2024.
In the third quarter, the group will receive its first Airbus A330-900 aircraft. In addition, eight Boeing 737-8 aircraft and others will be introduced.
In August 2022, Airbus, Rolls-Royce, and Avolon signed a memorandum of understanding to introduce 20 Airbus A330neo aircraft by 2023. Out of these, 10 aircraft will be purchased directly from Airbus and then undergo sale-and-leaseback. The rest will be leased directly from Avolon. It will gradually replace the existing Airbus A330 fleet.
The Airbus A330-900 aircraft will have 28 business class seats and 269 economy class seats, totaling 297 seats. The business class will feature Collins Aerospace-manufactured seats with doors, and 24 economy class seats will offer extra legroom. The aircraft will also be equipped with wireless charging and in-flight Wi-Fi.
Furthermore, from 2026, six Airbus A350-900 aircraft will be refurbished to the latest cabin specifications similar to the Airbus A330neo.
