Finnair will cancel about 550 flights from February 1 to 2 due to a strike.
Normally operating about 280 flights per day, this means almost all flights will be cancelled. Flight cancellations will be decided starting January 30, and alternatives will be provided to passengers. On the same day, due to the lack of connecting flights in Helsinki, passengers will be directed to their final destinations directly. It is expected to take about two days to process due to the high number of cancelled flights and affected passengers.
Operating flights might also be affected in terms of baggage loading and in-flight services, and there is a possibility of delays.
Finnair has been offering free reservation changes or refunds since January 19 to avoid travel on the days of the strike. Non-changeable tickets can be changed for free through Finnair’s customer service or travel agencies.
