Japan Airlines (JAL) will reopen its JAL First Class Lounge and Sakura Lounge in the North Wing of Terminal 1 at Tokyo Haneda Airport on October 8 following renovations.
The First Class Lounge is a revamped version of the former Diamond Premier Lounge, with its name changed as part of the renovation. Its seating capacity will increase by approximately 1.4 times. This article introduces, in photographs, the lounge’s various areas and food and beverage services, unveiled during a media preview ahead of its opening.
The concept of the First Class Lounge is “traditional beauty × personalization.” Dining, relaxing, and working areas have been created so that guests can use the lounge according to how they wish to spend their time before boarding, whether dining, resting, or working.

The relaxing area incorporates traditional Japanese techniques such as kumiko woodwork and latticework to create spaces shielded from surrounding views. In the working area, guests can use an open space equipped with charging facilities, as well as private and semi-private rooms suitable for web conferences.
The dining area features a counter, with the menu changing according to the time of day. From 5:15 a.m. to 2 p.m., warm bread, rice dishes, soup, and other items are served; from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., scones and bite-sized cakes are available; and from 4 p.m. onward, prepared dishes and rice dishes are offered. The curry bread uses Yanbaru Shima Buta Agu pork, a specialty of Okinawa. Drinks include soft drinks, teas, beer, wine, and sake.

Inside the lounge, guests can also view lacquer objects, a special exhibition curated by writer Minori Kai focusing on the packaging of famous confectionery from around Japan, and historical JAL aviation-related items.
Hours are from 5:15 a.m. until the departure of the final flight. The lounge is also equipped with phone booths, lockers, massage chairs, and a smoking room. The shower rooms shared with the Sakura Lounge allow guests to check availability and make reservations using their smartphones. Two fully private nursing rooms have also been added, each equipped with a diaper changing table and a hot-water dispenser for preparing baby formula.
The Diamond Premier Lounge and Sakura Lounge in the South Wing will close for renovations from October 8 and are scheduled to reopen around June 2027. (The following are 10 photos.)
