ANA Launches “Let’s Travel with Chiikawa!” Campaign
JR Tokai Retailing Plus will close BLUE BULLET, a specialty railway goods store located inside Shinagawa Station on the Tokaido Shinkansen, on October 31.
BLUE BULLET opened on April 16, 2025, in the concourse inside the Shinkansen North Exit ticket gates as the company’s first permanent specialty railway goods store. Shinkansen pursers are stationed at the store, which sells original railway merchandise and displays items including a coupler cover that was fitted to a Series 0 Shinkansen train on its final day of service, destination boards, headmarks, and train photographs, with the cooperation of JR Central.
Ahead of the closure, customers who purchase products totaling 1,000 yen or more, including tax, will receive an “original-design oshibori hand towel” from September 25. The hand towel is a “Mendes” towel used in Green Cars on the Tokaido Shinkansen and features an original design inspired by the scarf pattern worn by pursers. The offer will end once the planned quantity has been distributed.
In addition, items for commemorative photographs will be installed around the Series 0 Shinkansen coupler cover displayed in the store from late September. The items will feature Shinkansen train designs and were reportedly conceived by the pursers.
Regular opening hours are from 9:50 a.m. to 3:35 p.m., with the store closed on Tuesdays. The store will also open temporarily on Tuesdays during October, with extended hours mainly on Fridays and Sundays. On its final day of operation, October 31, the store will be open from 9:50 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
