Swiss International Air Lines to Launch In-Flight Internet Service on Short-Haul Aircraft
Swiss International Air Lines is set to introduce in-flight internet service on its short-haul aircraft.
Starting with the winter schedule, the service will be gradually installed on a total of 59 aircraft, including the Airbus A220 and the Airbus A320 family, as part of the Lufthansa Group’s overall initiative. Chat services such as WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger will be available for free, including the exchange of images.
The European Aviation Network (EAN), a hybrid technology that utilizes both satellite and ground-based systems, will be employed. This technology significantly reduces the weight of the installed system compared to traditional technologies.
Swiss International Air Lines has been offering in-flight internet service on its long-haul aircraft since 2016.
