VietJet Air announced the opening of the Hiroshima-Hanoi route on May 12.
The route will be operated with an Airbus A320 on Thursdays and Sundays, making two round trips a week. This will be the only direct flight connecting the Chugoku and Shikoku regions in Japan with Vietnam. The flight duration is 4 hours and 50 minutes from Hiroshima to Hanoi, and 4 hours and 30 minutes from Hanoi to Hiroshima.
Initially, during the G7 Hiroshima Summit, the launch was announced for July 2023 by Nguyen Xuan Phuc, the Prime Minister of Vietnam who was visiting Japan, but it was later postponed.
This brings VietJet Air’s routes to Japan to a total of eight. Additionally, the airline operates charter flights to Niigata, Shizuoka, Fukushima, and Matsuyama.
