Hokkaido Chuo Bus to Support Tap Payments for New Chitose Airport Shuttle and Hokuto Asahikawa Express Services
Hokkaido Chuo Bus will support tap payments on the airport shuttle and some express bus routes starting March 29.
This initiative is in collaboration with Sumitomo Mitsui Card, Visa Worldwide Japan, JCB, Recruit, and QUADRAC, utilizing the public transportation solution “stera transit” provided by Sumitomo Mitsui Card.
The services covered are the New Chitose Airport shuttle and the Hokuto Asahikawa express route. The Hokuto Asahikawa express can also be used on buses operated jointly by Hokuto Bus. The supported brands are Visa, JCB, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, and UnionPay, with Mastercard expected to be added sequentially.
Passengers can settle the fare by notifying the crew about the payment through tap payment and then holding their tap payment-enabled card or smartphone to the payment terminal.
