ITA Airways has launched a new route between Rome/Fiumicino and Chicago/O’Hare on April 7th.
The service operates six round trips per week, excluding Wednesdays. Beginning June 5th, an additional round trip on Wednesdays will be added, making it once daily. Airbus A330-900 aircraft are used for this route. The flight duration is approximately 10 hours 50 minutes from Rome/Fiumicino, and 9 hours 20 minutes from Chicago.
The launch expands ITA Airways’ North American destinations to seven cities, including New York, Boston, Washington, Miami, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. During the peak season, it will connect North America and Italy with 140 weekly flights.
A ceremony was held at the boarding gate of Chicago O’Hare International Airport to celebrate the launch. Attendees included ITA Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer Emilianan Limosani, Thomas Bozios, the Consul General of Italy in Chicago, and Amber Ritter, Deputy Commissioner and CCO of the Chicago Department of Aviation.
The summer schedule includes 16 domestic and 41 international routes, totaling 57 routes. From Rome/Fiumicino, the network will expand to North America, Africa, and the Middle East, with new services to Toronto and Riyadh in May, Accra and Kuwait City in June, Dakar in July, and Jeddah in August.
