Garuda Indonesia has inaugurated its Jakarta-Doha route on April 4th.
The airline will operate one daily round trip on this route, using a Boeing 777-300ER equipped with 26 business class seats and 367 economy class seats, totaling 393 seats.
The launch responds to increasing trade between the two countries and growing demand between the two cities, offering a wider range of options together with Qatar Airways, which implements code-share operations. Qatar Airways currently operates three daily round trips from Doha to Jakarta and Denpasar, and three weekly trips to Medan.
Irfan Setiaputra, President and CEO, expressed his pleasure at adding Doha to the airline’s extensive global network, noting the strong ties between Indonesia and Qatar in business, tourism, and culture. He believes the new service will provide easier access for travelers from Qatar to Indonesia, one of the world’s fastest-growing economic centers, and further enhance activities between the two countries. This milestone is significant for Garuda Indonesia, the national flag carrier of Indonesia, providing a convenient gateway from Jakarta, Indonesia’s primary hub, to Doha, the largest and financial epicenter of the Gulf region. The direct Jakarta-Doha flights are also expected to serve as a gateway for tourists from Qatar to other major tourist destinations in Indonesia, starting from Jakarta, the entry point to Indonesia’s exotic tourist locations.
With the inclusion of Garuda Indonesia, the number of Southeast Asian airlines operating at Doha’s Hamad International Airport has expanded to three, alongside Malaysia Airlines and Philippine Airlines.
