JR East is offering a JRE POINT upgrade discount campaign for the ‘Gran Class (no beverages or light meals included)’ on the Tohoku, Joetsu, and Hokuriku Shinkansen lines.
Upgrading from a regular car reserved seat will cost 2,000 points less than usual. For the Tohoku Shinkansen ‘Yamabiko’ it is 4,000 points, for the Hokuriku Shinkansen ‘Asama’ it’s 3,000 points, and for both the Tohoku Shinkansen ‘Nasuno’ and the Joetsu Shinkansen ‘Tanigawa’ it’s 2,500 points.
The campaign period is from June 1st to 30th. In Gran Class (without beverages or light meals), there are no dedicated attendants onboard, and no services such as snacks, drinks, or moist towels are offered.
