Qatar Airways has announced the introduction of Starlink, a satellite communication service provided by SpaceX. The announcement was made at the Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) currently being held in Hamburg, Germany.
The airline had already expressed its intention to adopt the technology in October 2023. As an initial step, Starlink will be installed on three Boeing 777-300 aircraft within this year, with plans to expand it to the entire fleet over two years. Each aircraft can achieve up to 500Mbps in communication speed, and passengers will be able to use it for free. The service supports streaming videos and online gaming, among other activities.
This marks the first time a Middle Eastern airline has introduced Starlink, highlighting Qatar Airways’ efforts to enhance passenger experience on board.
