Hankyu Corporation will launch its first reserved seating service ‘PRiVACE’ on the Kyoto Line, starting July 21.
The concept behind the service is to turn ‘travel time’ into ‘personal time’ in a private space. It will be introduced in the fourth car from the Osaka end in both the new 2300 series and some formations of the current 9300 series trains. The service will initially run 2-3 times per hour, with plans to expand to 4-6 times per hour by around 2025. The available train types are limited express, commuter express, and semi-express.
The seats are arranged in a ‘2-1’ configuration, offering larger seat widths and more space for legroom compared to standard cars. Features include retractable tables, drink holders, baggage hooks, magazine racks, reading lamps, and power outlets, along with free Wi-Fi service.
Reservations can be made through the website from 14 days before the travel date, and if there are available seats, passengers can purchase reserved seat tickets from attendants on the train. Reservations for the period from July 21 to 23 will start from 1 PM on July 9. The fee is 500 yen per ride, regardless of the distance.
