JR West Japan to Issue Digital Benefit Bonds for Individuals, Gifting Railway Discount Coupons for Purchases Over 300,000 Yen
JR West Japan will issue digital benefit bonds for individuals (More WEST! WESTER Bonds) on June 19th.
This initiative utilizes the digital engagement platform provided by Mizuho Financial Group, marking the first issuance of digital benefit bonds for individuals by a railway operator.
The total amount issued is 500 million yen, with a term of one year. The interest rate is yet to be determined, with preliminary conditions between 0.25% and 0.65%. The amount per unit is 100,000 yen. The offering period is from June 7th to 18th, with Mizuho Securities as the underwriter and Rakuten Securities selling.
Purchasers of up to 2 units will be awarded 1,000 WESTER points, while those purchasing 3 units or more will receive 2,000 WESTER points. In addition, those purchasing 3 units or more will be given a railway discount coupon, granting a 50% discount on fares and fees, and will also be entered into a lottery for a chance to invite 30 people to a vehicle photography tour at the Suita General Rolling Stock Yard.
