Emirates Airlines Creates Children’s Backpacks from Airbus A380 Seat Fabric
Emirates Airlines is donating children’s backpacks made from recycled aircraft interior fabrics, named ‘Aircrafted KIDS by Emirates’.
Emirates Airlines has been progressively refurbishing the interiors of 191 aircraft and is preparing to reutilize over 50,000 kilograms of materials. Billions of dollars have been invested in the refurbishment.
The backpacks are made from the economy class seat fabrics of 22 Airbus A380 aircraft, which were washed and manually cleaned before being sewn together. Functional zippers and adjustable straps have been added to create durable, high-quality bags. These will be donated to schools and early childhood education support organizations across Africa and Asia.
Products made from materials like leather, aluminum, and wool, which were reused from the first and business classes of these 22 aircraft, have been sold out in a matter of weeks. Emirates Airlines donates the profits, after minimal operational costs, to the Emirates Airline Foundation, which supports humanitarian projects worldwide.
