Emirates Airlines has inaugurated its Dubai-Miami-Bogota route on June 3rd.
One round trip will operate daily using a Boeing 777-300ER, outfitted with 6 first class seats, 42 business class seats, and 306 economy class seats, totaling 354 seats.
To celebrate the arrival of the inaugural flight, traditional Colombian dances were performed, followed by a VIP cake cutting ceremony and the exchange of gifts. An aircraft tour was also conducted for dignitaries, members of the media, and travel industry professionals.
Bogota, the capital of Colombia and the second-largest city in South America, was unreachable directly from Dubai due to its high altitude. Miami was chosen as a stopover location given its tourism and trade connections with Bogota. This expansion brings Emirates’ South American destinations to four cities including Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Buenos Aires.
Passengers traveling in both directions between Dubai and Bogota will need to go through US immigration in Miami. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Colombia have signed a reciprocal visa agreement allowing for visa-free stays of up to 90 days.
