JAL Launches ‘MyakuMyaku JET’ with Service Until About May 2025
Japan Airlines (JAL) has launched its first flight with the specially painted aircraft ‘JAL MyakuMyaku JET’ (Embraer 190 aircraft, registration number JA252J) in celebration of the 2025 Japan International Exposition (Osaka/Kansai Expo).
The ‘JAL MyakuMyaku JET’ features the official character of the Osaka/Kansai Expo, ‘MyakuMyaku’, as well as other original designs related to the expo. MyakuMyaku is a mysterious creature born from the union of cells and water, with its origins unclear. The red sections represent cells, while the blue sections symbolize pure water.
The inaugural flight, JAL flight 2355 from Osaka/Itami to Izumo, took off from spot 14 at 2:39 PM and arrived at 3:33 PM on November 28th, with 66 passengers on board. Passengers were given stickers and pamphlets, and onboard, drinks were served in paper cups featuring six different designs.
Prior to the inaugural flight, a showcase event was held with guests such as Hirofumi Yoshimura, the governor of Osaka Prefecture, and Kaoru Koyama, the producer for the Osaka/Kansai Expo theme project, as well as the character MyakuMyaku. A human pictogram by fifth graders from Hotarugaike Elementary School, marking 500 days until the expo, celebrated the launch. The first aircraft is scheduled to operate until around May 2025, and there are plans for subsequent aircraft.
The Osaka/Kansai Expo will be held from April 13 to October 13, 2025, in Yumeshima, Osaka.
