Etihad Airways deploys Airbus A380 on Abu Dhabi-New York/JFK route
Etihad Airways will introduce the Airbus A380 to its Abu Dhabi-New York/John F. Kennedy route.
Starting April 22, 2024, the aircraft will be used on one of the two daily round trips on this route. The remaining flight will continue to use a Boeing 787-9. This move aims to boost capacity ahead of the summer travel season, and on March 31, 2024, Etihad Airways will also launch a new service from Abu Dhabi to Boston, further strengthening its routes to the United States.
The Airbus A380 features The Residence, nine First Apartments, 70 Business Studios, and 405 Economy Smart Seats. In addition, there are 80 Economy Space Seats which offer a generous seat pitch of up to 36 inches. The Residence is an optional service available to first class ticket holders who can use it by paying an additional $2,500 one-way. There’s also The Lounge, an exclusive area for first and business class passengers.
To celebrate the deployment, Etihad Airways is offering a reduced upgrade fare from First Class to The Residence. Normally priced at 16,600 UAE Dirhams, the promotional price is 10,999 UAE Dirhams for one person and 14,999 UAE Dirhams for two people. This offer is valid for purchases made from November 29 to December 12.
The Airbus A380 resumed operations in July this year with flights from Abu Dhabi to London/Heathrow, after having been suspended during the pandemic, and this will be its second route.
