Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Issues Corrective Orders to Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ferry for Multiple Violations of the Seafarer’s Law
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has issued a corrective order to Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Cruise.
Following an inspection by the Kanto Transport Bureau on Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Cruise and its owned vessel ‘Nippon Maru’ according to the provisions of Article 107 of the Seafarer’s Law, it was revealed that there were multiple violations of the law, including exceeding the maximum working hours and systematic falsification of working hours records.
The company was ordered to comply with the maximum working hours, not to falsify records, to conduct internal investigations, and to develop measures to ensure compliance with laws and regulations. They were requested to report the results of the investigation and the improvement measures within 14 days.
