Mori Trust to Open ‘1 Hotel Tokyo’ in Akasaka’s Tokyo World Gate by Fall 2025
Mandarin Oriental to Open Three Hotels in Setouchi
The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is set to open three hotels in the Setouchi region.
Following their Tokyo location, these will be the group’s second series of hotels in Japan, with three boutique-style hotels scheduled to open sequentially from 2027 to 2030.
The “Mandarin Oriental Setouchi Takamatsu” will be an urban resort hotel with 92 guest rooms. It is located in the Sunport area adjacent to Takamatsu Station. The hotel will be fully equipped with restaurants, bars, a spa, and wellness facilities.
The “Mandarin Oriental Setouchi – Naoshima” will be a modern Japanese ryokan-style hotel with 22 guest rooms. In addition to ryokan-style suites and villas, three separate lodges will be scattered throughout the property, each with its own private terrace and Japanese garden.
Together with the development company Shikoku Machizukuri & Omotenashi Planning, both are slated to open in the summer of 2027. The third hotel is aimed to open in 2030 on one of Setouchi’s islands.
