JR East is revising the fare system for the Green cars in local trains across the Tokyo metropolitan area.
The company will abolish the current system that differentiates between advance booking fares, on-board fares, weekday fares, and holiday fares, and instead, will now only differentiate between Suica Green fares and the standard ticket fare.
Suica Green fares will cost 740 yen up to 50 kilometers, 1,000 yen up to 100 kilometers, and 1,550 yen for distances over 101 kilometers. The standard ticket fares will each be an additional 260 yen. As a result, most fares will increase from the current prices.
