Finnair Delays Overhaul of Loyalty Program to March 9 Next Year

Finnair has announced a delay in the overhaul of its mileage program, ‘Finnair Plus,’ to March 9, 2024.

The overhaul was initially scheduled for late January 2024, but it has been postponed due to the need for more time for system development and testing. The system will be refreshed over the period from March 8 to 11, 2024.

With the renewal, the loyalty currency Avios will be introduced, and the program will start awarding miles based on spending. New milestone benefits will also be introduced, allowing members to receive perks such as upgrade benefits when they hit a specific point cap within their existing level. The number of seats made available for award tickets will also increase, with a minimum of 4 seats on European routes and at least 8 seats on long-haul routes guaranteed. Current points will be converted to Avios at a 3:2 exchange rate.

Finnair Plus was launched in 1992 and boasts over 4 million members. Avios is also adopted by airlines including British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Vueling, and Qatar Airways.
