Rakuten Card has started issuing a new “Rakuten Card” without a signature panel.
The initial cards to be issued without a signature panel are five types of Visa-branded Rakuten Cards. The company plans to gradually expand the eligible cards and brands.
The signature panel on credit cards, which is used to verify the cardholder’s identity during magnetic strip transactions, is becoming less necessary due to the widespread adoption of integrated circuit (IC) card transactions and the growing popularity of contactless payments, with signatures no longer required for certain transactions.
