Finnair Appoints Mr. Sakari Romu as New Head of Japan Branch
Finnair has announced that Mr. Sakari Romu will take on the role of Head of its Japan Branch, effective January 1, 2024.
Born in 1959, Mr. Romu first came to Japan in 1963 and spent 11 years living in Kyoto and Otsu. After joining Finnair in 1980, he served as Vice President of Revenue Management & Pricing and General Manager of the Japan Branch’s Sales Division. Following these roles, he was the Country Manager of Japan for Philippine Airlines, Head of Business Development for both AirAsia X and AirAsia Japan. Since January 2022, Mr. Romu has been serving as Head of Finnair’s China Branch and subsequently as Head of the India Branch from June 2022.
Mr. Romu expressed his enthusiasm about his new position, “Japan is one of the most important bases for Finnair, and it is a great honor and responsibility to be reappointed as the head of the Japan Branch ahead of the resumption of the Nagoya route in May 2024. I am committed to further strengthening the trust with our customers and partners in Japan and to work diligently to make Finnair an increasingly beloved airline.”
