Iyotetsu Railway will introduce 18 new 7000 series vehicles (equivalent to 6 trainsets) from February 2025.
The exterior features a futuristic streamlined shape, and is colored in orange to express the “essence of Ehime.” The car body, made of stainless steel, is lighter in weight, and by adopting LED headlights and interior lights as well as improving vehicle performance, power consumption is reduced by half.
Inside the cars, there are spaces for wheelchairs and LCD information panels, as well as the adoption of English signage and in-car announcements. Digital signage has been installed above all the doors, creating an open interior atmosphere free from hanging advertisements.
The trains will be introduced on the Yokogawara Line, Takahama Line, and Gunchu Line, with 6 new vehicles (2 sets) being added each year until 2027, eventually totaling 18 vehicles (6 sets) to replace the 700 series trains.
