JR East Suspends Train Services in Most of Niigata Area Until Evening, Some Lines Closed All Day
JR East has suspended train services on the conventional lines in the Niigata area for today, the 2nd day as well, due to the impact of the Noto Peninsula earthquake that occurred around 4:10 PM on the 1st.
According to the Niigata branch announcement at 10:30 PM on the 1st, the services on the Shinetsu Main Line between Nagaoka and Niigata stations, the Hakushin Line and Uetsu Main Line between Niigata and Shibata stations and Niitsu to Sakata stations, the Joetsu Line between Minakami and Nagaoka stations, the Ban’etsu West Line between Kitakata and Niitsu stations, the Echigo Line between Uchino and Niigata stations, the Iiyama Line between Morimiyanohara and Echigo-Kawaguchi stations, and the Tadami Line between Tadami and Koide stations will be suspended in both directions until the evening.
The direct services on the Shinetsu Main Line between Joetsumyoko and Nagaoka stations, the Echigo Line between Kashiwazaki and Uchino stations, and the Yahiko Line between Yahiko and Higashi-Sanjo stations will be suspended all day.
