[Breaking News] Fire Breaks Out on JAL Aircraft at Haneda Airport, Reports NHK
At around 5:47 PM on the 2nd, Japan Airlines (JAL) Flight 516 from Sapporo/Chitose to Tokyo/Haneda, an Airbus A350-900 aircraft (registration number: JA13XJ), caught fire after landing on Runway C at Haneda Airport.
According to JAL, all 379 individuals on board, including 12 crew members and 367 passengers (of which 8 were infants), have been confirmed to have evacuated from the aircraft.
Reports indicate that the fire started near the left engine and is spreading. According to NHK, there’s a possibility that the aircraft collided with a MA722 fixed-wing aircraft belonging to the Japan Coast Guard’s Haneda Air Station after landing. The pilot of the coast guard aircraft has evacuated, but the status of the remaining 5 crew members is unknown. The coast guard aircraft was en route to transport supplies to Niigata Airport.
All four runways at Haneda Airport are currently closed.
