JR East to Operate Overnight Trains on 7 Lines in the Tokyo Area from New Year’s Eve to New Year’s Day
JR West Launches QR Ticket Service
JR West (West Japan Railway Company) will start installing QR readers at automatic ticket gates from April and will sequentially launch a QR ticket service from October onwards.
The service will be available for QR tickets purchased through the ‘KANSAI MaaS’ app, ‘tabiwa by WESTER’, and ‘Inbound QR Service’. Passengers can use their smartphones to display the QR code and scan it at the automatic ticket gates.
The service area includes 211 stations across the conventional lines in the JR West Kansai region. At stations without QR readers, passengers can use the service by scanning QR codes displayed at the stations.
