Aomori-Hakodate Ferry, New Vessel ‘Hayabusa III’ to Start Service on January 20
The Aomori-Hakodate Ferry will commence service with the new vessel ‘Hayabusa III’ on January 20.
Following ‘Hayabusa II’, which started service on April 4, 2023, ‘Hayabusa III’ will replace the ‘Hayabusa No. 3’, which was put into operation in 2000. The new large vessel has a passenger capacity of 300, with an overall length of approximately 115 meters and an overall width of about 19 meters. The design of the ship’s bow has been altered from the conventional model to reduce resistance from waves, and fuel efficiency for the propellers and engines has been improved by about 5% compared to the ferry currently in operation.
The interior design of the ship features motifs associated with Aomori City, such as the traditional sashiko embroidery and apple trees. The ferry offers accommodations such as state rooms, second-class rooms, second-class seats available for second-class fares, and barrier-free seats.
To celebrate the launch, a discount campaign on fares will be held for departures from February 1 to March 31. Reservations can be made on the website until two days before the date of departure.
