Singapore Airlines Resumes New Suites on Tokyo/Narita to Singapore Route with Spacious Double Beds
Singapore Airlines has resumed the introduction of the Airbus A380 aircraft on the Tokyo/Narita to Singapore route and has restarted its new suite service from October 29th.
The suite is a private room space with the seat and bed arranged separately. The seat is made of full-grain leather by Poltrona Frau and allows a deep recline of up to 45 degrees. It can also be freely swiveled. The doors are sliding, and the window blinds can be opened and closed with a button.
Inside the suite, there is a 32-inch touchscreen monitor, and the screen can be controlled via a tablet device. It allows passengers to enjoy in-flight entertainment as if they were watching their home TV. In the “Double Suite,” created by removing the partition between the two seats in front and behind, it is possible to convert into a double bed.
The newly configured Airbus A380 aircraft has a total of 471 seats, with six suites and 78 business class seats on the second floor, and 44 premium economy and 343 economy class seats on the first floor. The double bed configuration is available only when using seats 1A and 2A, and 1F and 2F.
Meals can be pre-booked from the “Book the Cook” service up to 24 hours before departure. The Japanese cuisine is supervised by Yoshihiro Murata of the well-established Kyoto restaurant “Kikunoi.”
The new aircraft started operations on December 18, 2017, and has been deployed on flagship routes connecting Singapore with London, Sydney, and others. Operations were suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic and the aircraft was put into storage. Before the pandemic, the airline owned 19 of this type of aircraft and plans to return 12 to service in response to increasing demand.
