JR West has announced that, due to heavy snow forecasts, tickets can be refunded without a fee or have their validity period changed.
Tickets eligible for this offer are those including the validity period from January 22 to 26, covering JR West’s conventional lines, as well as the Sanyo Shinkansen and the section of the Hokuriku Shinkansen between Kanazawa and Joetsu Myoko stations. Passengers must bring the tickets to a nearby JR station within one year from the travel date, or if the tickets are part of travel products purchased from a travel agency, they should contact the agency where they were purchased.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has announced that from January 23 to 25, heavy snowfall is expected mainly on the Sea of Japan side of Eastern to Western Japan, with the risk of intensified snowfall especially from the night of January 23 to 24 in regions such as Hokuriku, Northern Kinki, and Sanin. In the event of heavy snowfall, there are calls to refrain from non-essential and non-urgent outings.
