Nishitetsu Bus Kitakyushu, Sumitomo Mitsui Card, JCB, QUADRAC, Nishitetsu M-Tech, and nimoca will conduct a proof-of-concept experiment for tap-to-pay payments using credit cards and other methods from February 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025.
The targeted routes include the Kokura – Kitakyushu Airport Line (Direct and Nakatani route) and the Kurosaki – Orio – Gakken Toshi – Kitakyushu Airport Line. The supported brands are Visa, JCB, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, and UnionPay, totaling six brands.
Fares can be settled by presenting a card or smartphone equipped with tap-to-pay functionality to the payment terminal upon boarding or alighting the bus.
