American Airlines announced that it will launch a route from Tokyo/Haneda to New York/John F. Kennedy on June 28.
The service will operate one round trip per day using Boeing 777-200ER aircraft. The flight schedule is to depart Tokyo/Haneda at 3:30 PM and arrive in New York/John F. Kennedy at 3:35 PM the same day; it will depart New York/John F. Kennedy at 10:25 AM and arrive in Tokyo/Haneda at 1:30 PM the following day. From Tokyo/Haneda, in collaboration with Japan Airlines (JAL), which operates as its joint business partner, American Airlines will offer access to over 30 cities within Japan and across the East Asia network.
This will make a total of three routes operated by American Airlines from Tokyo/Haneda, including two round trips a day to Los Angeles and one round trip a day to Dallas/Fort Worth, totaling four round trips a day. This route will be the only direct flight between the two airports operated by an American airline, complementing the two round trips operated by JAL daily. Together with JAL-operated flights, this amounts up to 17 round trips a day, connecting Japan and America.
