Qantas Airways will operate a special flight from Melbourne to Sydney using an Airbus A380 aircraft.
This afternoon, February 23rd, due to storms and anticipated operational restrictions at Sydney Airport, numerous flights have been canceled or delayed. Normally, this route is served by Boeing 737 aircraft, but today, an A380 has been commissioned to accommodate passengers equivalent to three such aircraft. The aircraft used is a reserve that had been standing by, typically deployed on high-demand routes such as London and Los Angeles. The decision to operate was made considering the extraordinarily high demand for Sydney today.
The flight is scheduled to carry passengers for flights operating after 4 PM, with a few expected to be boarding for Taylor Swift’s concert in Sydney this evening. During her Australian tour, Taylor Swift performed three shows in Melbourne from February 16th and will be performing four shows at Sydney’s Accor Stadium from today until February 26th.
