Japan Airlines (JAL) will reduce the international flight fuel surcharge, for tickets issued from April.
The surcharge is determined according to the amount converted into yen based on the two-month average market price of Singapore kerosene and the two-month average exchange rate. The market price for Singapore kerosene from December to January was on average 101.72 US dollars per barrel, and the exchange rate was 145.26 yen to one US dollar, resulting in a conversion amount of 14,775 yen.
For tickets issued from April 1st to May 31st for itineraries departing from Japan, the one-way surcharge will be 3,500 yen for Korea and Far East Russia routes, 8,500 yen for East Asia routes excluding Korea and Mongolia, 11,000 yen for Guam, Palau, the Philippines, Vietnam, Mongolia, and Russia (Irkutsk) routes, 18,000 yen for Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, and Russia (Novosibirsk) routes, 21,000 yen for Hawaii, Indonesia, India, and Sri Lanka routes, and 33,000 yen for North America, Europe, Middle East, and Oceania routes excluding Hawaii.
