Fuji-Q Highland Ends Operation of ‘Do-Dodonpa’
Fuji Kyuko has decided to cease the operation of Fuji-Q Highland’s attraction ‘Do-Dodonpa’.
Despite extensive discussions with the manufacturer to find a way to eliminate the risk of injuries to users and the risk of rollbacks to ensure safe operations, it has been concluded that it is difficult to concretize such measures.
The predecessor attraction ‘Dodonpa’ opened in December 2001 and was renewed as ‘Do-Dodonpa’ in July 2017. It was a representative attraction that had been used by 9.3 million people. Operations have been suspended since August 2021, following incidents of user injuries.
The end of operations will result in a special loss of 612 million yen recorded in the financial results for the fiscal year ending in March 2024. The business forecast remains unchanged.
