Delta Airlines and a Gathering with Yuto Horigome for SNS Photo Contest Winners
Delta Airlines hosted an award ceremony on March 16th in Omotesando, Tokyo, for the ‘DELTA PHOTO LEAGUE’, a photo contest themed around ‘Memories of America’. Jeff Moomaw, Vice President for Asia Pacific region of the airline, Victor Osumi, the President for Japan, and brand ambassador Yuto Horigome, a professional skateboarder, interacted with the 50 invited participants.
During the contest which collected about 600 photos on Instagram from February 28 to March 7, Mr. Horigome selected outstanding works featuring American street corners, skateboarding scenes, and parked Delta Airlines aircraft. A total of 25 photographs were chosen.
The award ceremony invited 25 winners and their companions, making a total of 50 guests. When Mr. Horigome made his appearance, the venue was filled with applause. Asked about how he spends time on flights, Mr. Horigome responded like a true professional, saying he thinks about skateboarding techniques. Later, a lottery was held, and a signed skateboard deck by Mr. Horigome was presented to the winners.
Moreover, Mr. Horigome, who is also a top tier ‘Diamond Medallion’ member of Delta Airline’s SkyMiles program, announced his donation of 350,000 miles to the nonprofit organization ‘Make-A-Wish’, supporting children with critical illnesses, through the airline’s charity program ‘SkyWish’. A letter of appreciation was presented to him by the president of Make-A-Wish of Japan, Tomomi Nishikawa.
Since November 2022, Delta Airlines has had an official airline contract with Mr. Horigome. The company supports his travel for competitions, and Mr. Horigome participates in the company’s PR campaigns and events.
