Transport Safety Board Publishes Progress Report on Collision Accident at Haneda Airport
Extension of Trial for Time-of-Day Toll Rates on the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line
The East Japan Expressway Company (NEXCO East Japan), the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and the Chiba Prefecture have extended the trial of ETC time-of-day toll rates on the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line’s upward line until March 31, 2025.
Due to the concentration of traffic and severe congestion during specific time periods on weekends and holidays, the trial aims to relieve congestion. From July 2023, affected vehicles heading from Kisarazu to Kawasaki, including all vehicle types equipped with ETC, are subject to varying discount toll rates during specific time periods. This implementation takes place on January 2 and 3, including substitute holidays, weekends, and public holidays.
Between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m., the toll rates will be increased by 50% from the regular rates: 960 yen for light vehicles, 1,200 yen for standard vehicles, 1,440 yen for medium-sized vehicles, 1,980 yen for large vehicles, and 3,300 yen for extra-large vehicles. Moreover, from 8 p.m. to 12 midnight, the toll rates will be reduced by 25% from the regular rates: 480 yen for light vehicles, 600 yen for standard vehicles, 720 yen for medium-sized vehicles, 990 yen for large vehicles, and 1,650 yen for extra-large vehicles.
