Awajiya will be selling the ‘TaiRail Friendship Agreement Commemorative Octopus Rice’ from April 9 to May 3.
To commemorate the friendship agreement signed with the Taiwan Railways Administration (TaiRail) on December 8, 2023, this limited-edition product, which features TaiRail’s logo on dark blue porcelain, will be released in Japan and Taiwan. The dish is a twist on the traditional octopus rice, adding Taiwanese-style braised pork and replacing the usual accompaniments with white rice mixed with sesame oil and rapeseed greens, creating a taste reminiscent of Taiwan.
In support of the reconstruction efforts after the Taiwan earthquake, Awajiya stores, including the LaZona Kawasaki store, will sell the item. A portion of the sales will be donated to the reconstruction fund, and donation boxes will also be placed in some stores. The price is 1,380 yen (tax included).
