Etihad Airways has reported its highest-ever quarterly profit for the first quarter of 2024 (January to March).
Supported by robust passenger revenue, the final profit amounted to $143 million. The number of passengers was 4.2 million, a 41% increase compared to the same period last year.
Revenue was $1.563 billion, with an average seat occupancy rate of 86%. This was supported by increased capacity and passenger numbers, as well as almost stable cargo and other revenue. Improvements in operational efficiency through cost reductions also contributed.
The airline launched new routes to Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, and Boston, increased flights to Antalya and Jaipur, and is expected to operate 858 flights per week during the peak summer period. The number of point-to-point passengers to and from Abu Dhabi increased by 43% compared to the same period last year.
