Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Issues Advisory due to Deteriorating Security Situation in New Caledonia; Air Calin Cancels All Flights Until May 21

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan has issued a spot information advisory to alert about the security situation in New Caledonia.

In some areas of New Caledonia, intensified protest actions by separatists have led to road blockades and the act of setting fire to buildings and vehicles. President Macron of France has declared a state of emergency throughout New Caledonia.

The closure of Nouméa’s La Tontouta International Airport continues, and Air Calin has already decided to cancel all flights from May 14 to 21. Flight operations will be adjusted as soon as the airport resumes operation. New Caledonia’s offices and call centers are also closed, making all support difficult in Japan’s offices as well.
