Iberia Airlines to Become the World’s First Operator of the Airbus A321XLR

Iberia Airlines has announced that it will become the world’s first airline to operate the Airbus A321XLR.

The airline plans to start operations by the end of summer, with Washington being the first destination, followed by Boston, aiming to strengthen its network in the North American market. It will initially operate medium-haul routes as introductory flights. The plan is to introduce eight aircraft.

The configuration will include 14 seats in business class and 168 seats in economy class, for a total of 182 seats. The business class will feature full-flat, leather seats with all seats having aisle access, compartments for personal items, an 18-inch 4K monitor, and individual lighting. Economy class will be equipped with Recaro’s CL3810 seats, allowing for 4 inches of recline. A large overhead baggage compartment, Bluetooth connection for in-flight entertainment viewing, complimentary Wi-Fi for messaging services, and both USB-A and USB-C power outlets will be available at every seat.

While being a single-aisle aircraft, it will still enable long-distance routes and offer a premium service on par with wide-body aircraft such as the Airbus A330 and Airbus A350.
