Hirakawa Trading has rebranded and opened ‘samana hotel Yakushima’ on April 26.
The hotel was acquired from JR Kyushu and rebranded in June 2023 (formerly JR Hotel Yakushima). It has been rebranded again and now has a total of 43 rooms. Four hot spring suites with an open-air bath directly from the source have been added, 38 standard twin rooms have been renovated, and some rooms are furnished with a sofa bed, allowing up to four guests to stay. All rooms are now equipped with NOEVIR bath amenities.
‘The Traveler Lounge’ has been newly established, available from check-in until after dinner, offering wine, Yakushima exclusive whiskey, and original cocktails during bar time. Moreover, the hotel now features a Yakushima hot spring with water from 800 meters underground, a buffet dining area with a live kitchen, and a terrace with large benches. A sound design that envelops guests in the atmosphere of Yakushima, inspired by the island’s colors and sounds, has been introduced.
The newly established ‘samana fund’ will be used for the conservation of Yakushima’s irreplaceable natural environment, which is a World Natural Heritage site, and community contribution. This includes maintenance of hiking trails, conservation of sea turtle nesting environments, projects using Yakushima cedar, and island events, with the participation of guests.
Access is approximately 30 minutes by car from Yakushima Airport, 20 minutes from Anbo Port, about 50 minutes from Miyanoura Port, and right after getting off at No.97 Samana Hotel Yakushima bus stop.
